INTRODUCING LIMINA’S IMMERSIVE WORKSHOPS

Led by BAFTA-winning immersive expert Catherine Allen, Limina’s unique collection of workshops is designed to introduce participants to key aspects of immersive media in an intelligent, inspiring and holistic way

WHERE OUR INSIGHT COMES FROM

Limina’s insight into immersive media is unique as it is grounded in in-person user research with thousands of people.

This includes:

  • Over 15,000 VR Theatre audience members with regular surveys & focus groups
  • 5 studies with university partners: King’s College, Warwick University, Bath Spa University, Storyfutures and the University of Brighton
  • At-home VR usage insights from our own study with over 3500 participants
  • Our own immersive usage tracker survey with Ipsos Mori
  • Secondary research from a variety of academic disciplines including design thinking, performance studies, sociology, business schools and history of art
  • Ongoing journals review of the latest university-led studies in AR and VR

ONLINE

IN-PERSON

All of our workshops and masterclasses are available both online and in-person at our HQ in Bristol or at a venue of your choice. All in-person events include a full suite of Covid-19 safety measures.

Workshop lengths can be tailored to suit your brief.

Some workshops utilise VR/AR equipment  eg. VR headsets. Our in-person workshops include this equipment. We can arrange equipment hire for online workshops so it is sent directly to participant’s locations.

Our Three CORE WorkshopS

CORE

IMMERSIVE LITERACY

We help teams develop a critical understanding of the medium, going beyond just ‘trying VR’ or ‘having a go with AR’. This is, of course, essential for decision-making or developing ideas.

END USER INSIGHTS

Who is using immersive tech, and why? We track and analyse VR usage from new and existing audiences. Stay on the pulse with the latest immersive consumer usage data, segments and trends.

DUTY OF CARE

We believe immersive media should follow the same principle as the doctor’s oath of ‘do no harm’. Our toolkit of support can offer your project the very best in audience-care.

IMMERSIVE LITERACY

CORE

This immersive literacy 101 workshop is designed to warmly welcome your team to the wonderful world of immersive media and build immersive literacy. The workshop can be adapted to be about immersive media as a whole or solely about VR or AR.

Sample workshop topics include:

  • Learn about the past, present and future of immersive tech. Why does immersive matter? Who is using it now and who is likely to use it in the future?
  • Understand the fundamental principles of immersive media. What is immersion? What is spatial?
  • Discover the different purposes immersive media is being used for. What is immersive media particularly good at?
  • Get to grips with ‘storydoing’ vs ‘storytelling’. Learn what techniques to let go of from other forms of media
  • Experience a whistle-stop tour of a range of different types of immersive media that represent ‘best in class’. Brainstorm further ideas based on learnings
  • Develop a critical understanding on immersive media. Avoid being ‘dazzled’ by the medium, learn how to ‘read’ it and critique

Immersive Literacy Masterclasses

As well as full workshops, we also provide shorter masterclasses, focussed on particular subject areas. These can be provided either as a stand alone masterclass or as part of a package.
