Limina Immersive was commissioned by Meta to research, develop and write The Family Guide to Virtual Reality, a practical, evidence-based resource designed to support families in getting the most out of VR, navigating VR safely and confidently at home.
Limina’s Catherine Allen led the research and authorship of the guide, beginning with in-depth interviews with ‘super user’ families actively using VR, alongside our wider body of research into immersive media behaviours. This work focused on how VR is actually experienced in domestic settings, exploring patterns of use, emerging norms, and the questions and concerns families encounter in practice.
The resulting guide offers families accessible tools, conversation starters, and activities to help them engage with and enjoy VR in a balanced and informed way.
Beyond its immediate audience, the guide has contributed to wider conversations around responsible innovation and digital wellbeing, for instance in policy spaces. It demonstrates how Limina Immersive helps organisations bridge the gap between emerging technology, policy and everyday life.
